What’s the origin story of your business?
So my wife and I wanted to open up a clinic in 2020 and we saw this exact space here at the Old Hanes candy store flag factory and we did everything. We went to the Tennessee small business association. They helped us put up and create a business plan and then in 2020 all of a sudden banks stopped giving out loans. We didn’t know what to do and we just missed getting a bank loan and signing a lease by one hour and I was like shoot. Well, about a year later we noticed that it was for rent at the end of 2021 and so we called the landlord and he said “I remember you guys, I would love for you to rent it.” However, we didn’t have funding.
But what’s cool is, six months after the first time we tried to do funding, a patient of ours popped up out of the blue one day and invited us to lunch. He was called to do local missions with some business people and he just wanted to do it with us. Then he asked, “what’s your dream?” I was so surprised because we were just devastated that we couldn’t start the business. So I told him we have a business plan and that we’re ready to rock ‘n’ roll, this is what we need and he said “no big deal, I got you, call me anytime that you need the funding.” Then in 2021, early 2022 we called him up and he said yea let’s do it and that’s how we got started.
What’s an obstacle that you’ve had to overcome to build your business?
Just learning how to run a small business. There are so many little details like we’re fixing people but at the same time we might have to fix a light. There’s a lot of management that goes into running a small business.
What is unique about owning and running a business in Murfreesboro?
The small-town feel of Murfreesboro is just the coolest and most unique thing. We got the opportunity to be close to the square and everyone we feel like, knows each other, we can make connections and we can just invest in the community. About three months into starting this business we got super sick of spending money on marketing. We said if we spend money on marketing, we wanted to go back into the community. Once we started sponsoring other events the lord blessed us and we tripled in new patients.
We checked our ROI and realized we weren’t getting anything back and we decided we were going to be community-based. That’s when everything went through the roof. That’s why we’re set up like this so people can form a community because people get better together. So if they have a place where they can feel like they belong, that’s when they’re really going to find success in what they’re doing.
As a business owner, what keeps you up at night?
The thing that keeps me up at night is if I served my patients and the community well. The money and the building always take care of themselves but were the people that come in the door served well that day.
If you could wave a magic wand and make one problem go away in your business what would it be?
I actually already waved my magic wand this week, I just made my first hire. I was a solo practitioner and administrator and we grew faster than expected. She approached us and the magic wand was waved and she said “I just want to come work for you. we’ll figure everything else out later,” and I was like sweet let’s do it!
If you could travel back in time to the day you started your business, what advice would you give yourself?
Don’t sweat the small stuff. In reality, no one is paying as much attention as you are. Just enjoy the whole process. Also, be ready for a big expense out of nowhere because it’s gonna happen. Just spend the money and move on.

Early in the morning around 5:15 am.
What’s one thing you’d say to a person starting a new business?
Find a really good mentor and don’t worry about failing because everyones going to experience it.
What’s one thing you’d say to a person who’d owned a business for a long time?
What makes you successful? What drives you? What is your impact with your income, because it’s way too much work to run a business, there’s gotta be a why.
