What’s the origin story of your business?

Hello, my name is Florry Weinstein and I am the owner of ChampionSpin Fitness and Cycle Studio. In 2018, I left the military and fell into a slump. I ended up getting a class pass account and went to a lot of different studios and classes to help pull me out of it. I found my way to a spin class that was very pretty at first glance but had an unwelcoming environment. I enjoyed the workout so I thought I could create a space like this that people would enjoy. For two weeks, I thought about the idea, got a Peloton, and got my certification. I worked through a layout of a class I thought would be enjoyable and worked until I found one I was satisfied with. “I saw a need for regular people to come and do this excellent thing and realize that there is nobody superior to you because of where they are in life.”

What’s an obstacle that you’ve had to overcome to build your business?

An obstacle that I faced when building my business would have to be people’s discipline. People like to rely on their motivation, but motivation changes. The community is reliant on the people that come. It’s discipline that keeps them coming.

What is unique about owning and running a business in Murfreesboro?

What I think is unique about owning and running a business in Murfreesboro is that Murfreesboro is big but also small. It feels as though there are “‘Boros within the ‘Boro.”

As a business owner, what keeps you up at night?

All of it. My background is in the health sciences, so I am up most nights researching and trying to find ways to follow up on leads effectively. I am always looking for how I can be better.

If you could wave a magic wand and make one problem go away in your business what would it be?

It would have to be the idea of motivation. Motivation is the last thing you need. I would get rid of motivation and just leave discipline.

If you could travel back in time to the day you started your business, what advice would you give yourself?

I would tell myself to think bigger and buy more bikes. Business credit works differently from when you start to when you’ve been going!

If we made a movie telling the story of you and your business what would the title be?

Whenever I speak somewhere I always talk about well-rounded health. I say that if you marked a rubber ball with a sharpie and rolled it the mark would come back up because it’s constant. I don’t do teeter-totter health, I want consistent well-rounded health. So the title would probably be Always Rolling Forward.

What time of the day are you most productive?

The time of day that I am most productive would be the morning between 4 and 11. I can’t guarantee anything after 11!

What’s one thing you’d say to a person starting a new business?

Be patient. Everyone wants that instant gratification, but the right people will come. You will impact someone, so be patient to see that impact happen.

What’s one thing you’d say to a person who’d owned a business for a long time?

Teach somebody else. Don’t force the information on someone, but teach someone else what you know.
