What’s the origin story of your business?
When I was finishing up college, I toured with some of our singing groups at the University. They toured different churches around the United States. I was originally going to be a consulting company for the church. In 2010 when I started, it turned out to be more of a video production company than a consulting company. I was doing video work for weddings and churches and in 2014, I got busy enough where I could do the work full-time. That is the origin story of how my business started!
What’s an obstacle that you’ve had to overcome to build your business?
An obstacle that I had to overcome in my business would have to be time management. Now that I have a family, I always prioritize them first. I would say time management is a struggle with any business. I want to make sure that I balance everything I need to do as a business owner.
What is unique about owning and running a business in Murfreesboro?
One thing I love about Murfreesboro is how unique it is. The connections I have made with the community over the past five years have been great. I’ve been trying to get out more and get involved as much as I can.
As a business owner, what keeps you up at night?
As a business owner I would have to say that editing and keeping up with life problems keeps me up at night. For example, when I have to get a lot of things done at once, it definitely can keep me up late.
If you could wave a magic wand and make one problem go away in your business what would it be?
If I could wave a magic wand and make one problem go away in my business it would have to be time. I wish I had more time in the day to serve everybody well and do what I love to do.
If you could travel back in time to the day you started your business, what advice would you give yourself?
If I could travel back in time to the day I started my business, the advice I would give myself is to be more organized. Organization is very important in a business. Another thing I would say is always expect the job to be more complicated than you might think. Although it could be hard and take a long time, there’s true value in the work after time has been spent on it.
What time of the day are you most productive?
I am most productive in the mornings from 8 to 12. However, there are some late nights and I like to work in a 4 to 5 hour time frame rather than short periods.
What’s one thing you’d say to a person starting a new business?
I would always tell someone who is starting a new business to have a good amount of savings. It’s always good to save for a rainy day or when you can’t work. Another thing that I would say is always be consistent because being consistent makes you money. That is what my GM from Chick-fil-A always told me.
What’s one thing you’d say to a person who’d owned a business for a long time?
I would have to say look back on why you started and find the value in it to reassure you when times are hard.
